synopsis

struggles of good governance in motion
“STATE OF EXPECTATION” A Doc film on Nigeria featuring Fashola AS GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE-NIGERIA, THEMED STRUGGLES OF GOOD GOVERNANCE.

A politician’s desperate bid to bring prosperity, he embarks on a major quest to build the first mass-transit light rail system in whole of sub-Saharan Africa amidst criticisms, natural disasters and a challenging democratic process in a country riddled with poverty, corruption and ineffectiveness.

This is the first world documentary feature film touching on the global theme of “good governance”.

So many resources have been thrown at poverty in the last several decades yet poverty continues to be on the increase. Let’s try something different, a much more logical approach of helping to build capacity for ‘good governance’ in these under-developed countries.

According to UNDP (1994 Initiatives for Change), it is a global consensus that “Good Governance is the primary pathway to eliminating poverty”.

“State of Expectation” is a 76 minute world documentary feature film on Nigeria themed ‘struggles of good governance in motion’. It tracks the activities of a Nigerian politician.

Filmed over the course of seven years, the film follows the journey of a young African leader the Governor of Lagos state-Nigeria, Babatunde, Raji – Fashola who is committed towards eradicating poverty, bringing prosperity and sustainable development to his people.

He embarks on a major quest to build the first mass-transit light rail system in the whole of sub-Saharan Africa. This will lead to an unprecedented level of economic activities with the rest of Africa and beyond.

Amidst criticisms, natural disasters and a challenging democratic process, this film explores and reveals the struggles and efforts people are making towards building their environment and a new face of leadership in a country where politics is synonymous with corruption and ineffectiveness”.
